Here are some gorgeous photographs of Lea, whose grandmother treated her to a makeover magic session for her 16th birthday.  She had a great time being a model, and her mum had a mini makeover session, so she could have a few photographs with Lea, as a very special reminder of her daughter’s 16th!  Both mum and daughter look great … they’re sure to be treasured forever.

Model children

Lots of parents think about entering their children for modelling … but be warned, there are lots of people who are keen to take your money, and do not come up with any assignments!

Always choose an accedited agency – either AMA or AMTA. (if they are not, they are probably new, very small, or not conforming to the association code of business – none of which would ever get you much work.

The AMA members alone account for 90% of all paid model bookings in the UK, so if you aren’t with one of their accredited agencies, you are with one of the hundreds of smaller agencies all fighting for that remaining 10% of the market.

If any agency is asking you to pay them money out of pocket for anything or making you use one particular photographer or studio, they are not normally legitimate.  A legitimate agency will always have a list of 5-10 different photographers that you contact on your own, negotiate a price, arrange a shoot, and pay the photographer directly – but only AFTER you have had a test shoot (at NO charge to you) and you have a signed contract in hand. If an agency is making you get a portfolio before you have a signed contract in hand, they are not normally legitimate – if they are ONLY making money by taking a 10-20% commission from your work, then they are.

Before applying to an agency, bear in mind the some of the following may arise:

Generally all castings are after school (usually between 5 – 6pm) However nearly all work is done during school hours so if you are not happy for your child to take time off school you should not apply.

Many castings and jobs take place in London and often at short notice so please consider this before applying.

You should also be aware that an adult must be available to take your child to castings and jobs.

There may be a lot of hanging around, which can be stressful – especially to babies.

Having said all that, we are able to do model shoots, and here are the gorgeous Jones boys, who undertake modelling work.
